Hey guys! I am officially halfway through the semester. I posted a couple nights go, but it didn't save so I let it go. I started translating 1984 into Spanish lastnight and I'll be translating it in French for the rest of the semester. I also have to read a whole book in French and write a five page paper on the subject, so I chose children's literature as my subject with two analyses as my texts. I got sick this morning and I don't know why because I felt normal otherwise. I'm gonna try again to post pictures today. No classes, so I should be able to.
Bisous!

Hey guys, I'm back! I didn't post while I was on break because I forgot my charger for my laptop... and this week has been exam week so I haven't had time until today really.
So for vacation:
I went to Marseille with Edison for a week. It was nice in some places and there are some big streets and a lot to see, but there are a LOT of little streets in between everything else. We got lost the first day trying to find city center. We stayed in a mini apartment outside of the city obviously, but it wasn't too far so we wlked some days and took the metro some days. In fact, I didn't enjoy the city very much, but I really enjoyed having a week with Edison. He came back to Aix with me Saturday and we went out to dinner with my language partner, Manon, her new boyfriend
and another American, Emma. After dinner (crepes) we went to a tea house to play monopoly and drink hot cocoa. It was the best night, really. Then Sunday was the heart-wrenching day cause Edison had to leave again. For those who care: I recommend that long-distance relationships have the opportunity to see each other regularly or rarely because seeing each other for varying time periods with months in between is far worse than not having seen him for three months.
Since then, I overheard two American girls at the bus stop talking about the poor quality of their joints, I took three exams and received the grade for the one before break (which was an A by the way), I spent a lot of time studying, I went to salsa which was easily the hardest dance so far, and tonight I'm going to dinner with Manon and her boyfriend then to open mic night at the tea house.
I have to write my final paper on any subject of French society, but I have to pick one book as my resource for the paper, so I think I will do a paper on French children's literature. But I have to find the book before Friday. I also have to interview a French person before next Friday and I haven't found anybody yet...
I'll try to post pictures before I leave for dinner, but as you know the internet is awful so I may or may not succeed. I'd love to hear from you!
Bisous!

Happy February! You may have noticed that I did not post many pictures last night. I also did not do homework, so I am going to do my homework tonight and if I have time later I will try again, but the internet here is very slow and I don't have a lot of time so please be patient! Today I met my new language partner finally (Manon). The bus arrives once every hour on Sundays, so I went down to catch the bus and realized that my bus card will have stopped working since it's the 1st of the month, so I (in heals) ran back to the apartment to grab a one Euro piece and was interrogated about why I had come back already, I got lectured about how I had better hurry up because the bus only comes once an hour and that I should have renewed my bus card already. I explained that I get reimboursed tomorrow and can renew my card tomorrow so I got another lecture about how I can't forget to do that (all as I'm trying to leave to catch the bus). I got back to the stop just in time to catch the bus and then ended up being early (because the other two were running late), so I sat outside alone in the cold wind for a half an hour. Then they both arrived at the same time so we said hi, started talking, went to the Italian restaurant. The resatuarant didn't open until noon and it was 11:30, but the hostess seated us anyways and then we talked until she came back for our orders at 12. As the movie started at 13:15, we tried to order and eat relatively fast, but we were also talking, so we finished around 13:00. Since the actual film wouldn't start until 13:30 (because of previews) we decided to split a dessert, but the dessert arrived late. Emma suggested we see the movie another day and just stay there to chat, so we did until the restaurant started to close around 14:30, 15:00. Emma went home, but since the bus only comes once an hour, Manon suggested we could walk or find coffee (cause I had missed the bus by a minute). So we went to H&M and talked and critiqued and then went to grab a coffee and she realized I had missed the 16:30 bus, so we sat there with our coffee talking and at 17:15, I said I should probably get going (the last bus leaves at 18:50). So we walked to my bus stop and talked some more until the bus arrived. All in all, the day flew by and I had a great time just talking all day! I'm really happy with today, even if I didn't get to see Into the Woods and I can't wait to meet up with Manon again!
I also suggested to the other Americans (and the language partners) that maybe we could get a group together to go hiking Mt. Saint Victoire next weekend. High hopes! Miss you guys! Bisous!
